Wildlife Weekend:
Plains Wanderer Adventure
Exclusive Tour
New Dates: July 8, July 15

Join us on a Wildlife Watching Adventure!
Welcome to our latest Wildlife Weekend, a big untamed adventure for like-minded wildlife watchers, on a quest to see and learn more about the Plains Wanderer, one of the rarest birds in the world.
Join us on this exclusive event, as we explore several incredible habitats, trying to see a variety of local wildlife during the day, before we descend on the wonder of Victoria’s northern grass plains on a guided nocturnal search. Across three fully-guided experiences exploring Mallee, White Cypress Pine Forest and the native grasslands of northern Victoria, expect to have close encounters with some of Victoria’s most notable, unique, and hard to see wildlife species.
But first, what is a Plains Wanderer?
This critically endangered species is one of the most unique in the world. To begin, they are a quail-like bird with a long, tall neck and are the only species within its own genus and family (Pedionomidae). Threatened by climate change, feral cats/foxes, and land clearing, uniquely, the females are the more flamboyant and colourful of the genders. The only way to see this species is by venturing out into the remnant grasslands at night, searching beneath the stars and amongst the wildflowers! Sometimes, sightings can go years and years apart, but due to the heavy rains and good breeding season of 2022, we are rearing to go and ready to help you see your very first Plains Wanderer in the wild!
